Stock Map provides users with a comprehensive overview of the US stock market, allowing them to easily grasp intraday trends. Through its innovative visualization tools, Stock Map presents all S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Dow Jones stocks within a single view, utilizing a heat map/treemap format. This visual representation allows users to quickly identify the companies, sectors, and industries of interest.

The default main page displays S&P 500 stocks, which can be easily changed to showcase Nasdaq 100 or Dow Jones stocks by simply tapping on the corresponding title at the top. This flexibility ensures that users can access the specific market information they require.

Within the main view, users can tap on a sector or industry to access a more detailed overview of the associated companies. This feature is particularly beneficial for identifying smaller stocks that might otherwise be overlooked. By tapping on individual stocks within these inner categories, users can seamlessly access further details via the iOS Stocks app or other preferred apps/websites, such as Yahoo Finance (depending on user settings).

In the Favorites tab, users can curate their own list of preferred stocks, ensuring that only these select stocks appear for easy monitoring. This personalized view allows users to focus solely on the stocks they are most interested in tracking.

Additionally, Stock Map offers convenient widget options that can be added to the home page for ongoing stock monitoring. Users can choose between two main widget types: favorites or industry categories. To add these widgets, simply perform a long press on the home page, followed by selecting the "+" button located in the top left corner. From there, search for "Stock Map" in the list that appears and choose the desired widget type. By default, widgets update every 30 minutes to preserve battery life; however, users have the flexibility to adjust the update frequency according to their preferences via the Widget settings page within the app.

Stock Map's visual representation of the stock market is made possible through a market heat map, also known as a market treemap. Each block within the map corresponds to a company and its size is determined by its market capitalization. The entire map is sorted in descending order based on the market cap, providing users with a clear snapshot of the market hierarchy.
